The biggest creative project of my career

Le plus grand projet créatif de ma carrière

Since more than twelve years, fashion has held a central place in my life. After completing both a Diploma of College Studies (D.E.C.) and a Bachelor’s degree in fashion design, I founded my women’s clothing company nearly five years ago. Through it, I have developed an approach that truly reflects who I am: creating quality pieces produced in small quantities, with a constant concern for ethics and the environment.

But behind every creative business lies another reality: the ideas that are waiting for their moment.

In my day-to-day work, I mostly design timeless garments — essential pieces that can move across seasons. I deeply love what I do, but like many designers, I sometimes feel the need to explore more freely. To go somewhere else. To create without commercial constraints.

That is exactly what led me to imagine this new project.

Over the coming months, in collaboration with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), I will be working on a collection of unique wearable artworks. Each piece will be conceived as an artistic creation in its own right: a garment, yes, but also an object that carries meaning and invites reflection.

This project stems from a concern that has been present in my work for a long time: the impacts of overconsumption and fast fashion. The fashion industry has an enormous influence on our habits, our perception of ourselves, and of course on our planet. Yet these issues often remain abstract for many people.

Through these works, I want to create pieces that tell a story. Garments that invite us to reflect on our relationship with fashion, with consumption, and with individuality.

To bring this project to life, I will be using exclusively upcycled materials. Concretely, this means recovering textiles and supplies that were destined to be discarded in order to give them a new life. There is already an enormous amount of unused textiles. My intention is simple: to transform what already exists into something new, precious, and creative.

This project will also be deeply artisanal. Everything will begin with a phase of research and exploration: finding materials, drawing sketches, and imagining forms. Then will come the stages of pattern development, prototyping, and textile experimentation. Finally, each piece will be cut and assembled by hand in my studio.

It is an ambitious project, but above all one that is deeply aligned with my values: quality, authenticity, transparency, and uniqueness.

Through this blog, I want to bring you with me behind the scenes of this adventure. I will share the different stages of the process, the challenges, the textile discoveries, and perhaps even some reflections that will emerge along the way.

Because in the end, fashion can be much more than just a garment. It can also be a story. A statement. A way of imagining a different future.

And this project is my way of contributing to it.
